Schedule

Day 1

  • Overview of the rich and diverse world of Portuguese arts, from Fado music to azulejo tiles.
  • Historical and cultural significance of Portuguese art forms.
  • Presentation on the importance of azulejo tiles in Portuguese art and architecture.

Day 2

  • In-depth exploration of azulejo tiles’ history, from their Moorish origins to contemporary use.
  • Techniques and tools used in azulejo tile-making.
  •  Hands-on demonstration of basic azulejo tile painting techniques.

Day 3

  • Study of prominent Portuguese painters and sculptors throughout history.
  • Analysis of different art movements in Portugal, including Baroque and Romanticism.
  • Discussion and appreciation of iconic Portuguese paintings and sculptures.

Day 4

  • Participants will receive a blank tile to paint their own azulejo design.
  • Guidance on sketching, color mixing, and painting techniques.
  • Individual tile painting session where each participant will create their own azulejo masterpiece.

Day 5

  • Examination of how traditional Portuguese arts have influenced contemporary artistic expressions.
  • Exploring the fusion of traditional and modern elements in Portuguese art.
  • Group discussion and reflection on the importance of preserving and innovating Portuguese arts.
  • Visit S. Bento Train Station (Porto) to analyze and reflect about the azulejo art and story.

Price

All expenses can be covered through a Knowledge Acquisition (KA) subsidy within the Erasmus+ initiative. This is a 5-day training course in which Mobility Friends imposes a fee of 350 euros per attendee, in courses located in the cities of the continent. The price includes the training course and a coffee break. Additionally, there will be a visit to S. Bento train station, offering participants the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of Azulejo tiles as well as a workshop to design your tile.

Certificate

A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to participants who attend minimum of 80% of the course.


Schedule

The time of classes, whether in the morning or afternoon is determined by the provider. The schedule may vary considerably based on participants’ preferences and the trainer’s discretion regarding any modifications.

For certain courses, it may be necessary for you to bring your own laptop. Our team will inform you in case of need.
